doc.page is a document platform built on a simple, unusual promise: your files live on your device, not on our servers — unless you deliberately choose to share one.
Why we built it
Every "free online PDF tool" charges the same invisible toll: to merge, compress or convert a file, you first upload it to a stranger's server and hope it gets deleted. For a cat photo, fine. For a signed contract, a payslip or a scan of your ID, that's a bad trade you make out of habit.
We thought that trade was avoidable. Modern browsers can run everything those tools do — and even real AI models — directly on your machine. So we built the tools that way first, and only added a server for the one thing that genuinely needs one: sharing a document with someone else, and knowing they read it.
What we stand on
Local by default
The PDF tools and the on-device AI run entirely in your browser. Turn off your Wi-Fi and they keep working — the honest test of "nothing is uploaded".
Server only on request
A document reaches our servers for exactly one reason: you published it as a shareable link. Everything else stays with you.
Privacy as the default, not a setting
We don't ask you to trust a deletion policy. What never leaves your device can't leak, be indexed, or be sold.
Honest about tradeoffs
Client-side has limits, and some tools change your file in ways worth knowing. We tell you plainly instead of overselling.
