Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-07-12
Welcome to doc.page. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and doc.page ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of our website, tools, apps, API and related services (together, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Eligibility and authority
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms, and "you" then means that organisation.
2. The Service: two flows, two promises
doc.page has two clearly separated flows:
- Private flow (in your browser). The PDF tools and local‑AI features run entirely on your device. Your files are not uploaded and we never see them.
- Publish / API flow (on our servers). When you explicitly choose to share a document (Doc Links, Spaces, the library sharing features) or send it to our extraction API/MCP, that specific document is processed on our servers so we can provide the requested feature.
A document you keep private is never sent to our servers. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features of the Service at any time.
3. Your account and sign‑in
Some features require an account. We use passwordless sign‑in (magic links sent by email), so keeping access to your email inbox secure is your responsibility. You are responsible for all activity under your account, whether or not you authorised it. Do not share access to your account or let others use it. Notify us promptly at security@doc.page if you suspect unauthorised use. We may access your account where necessary to provide, secure or support the Service.
4. Your responsibilities and acceptable use
You are solely responsible for the documents and other content you upload, share or process ("Your Content"), for having the rights to do so, and for complying with the laws that apply to you and your recipients. You must not use the Service in violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. We may, but are not obliged to, review shared content and may remove or disable any link, Space, document or account that breaches these Terms or that we are required to act on, with or without notice, and report unlawful activity to the authorities.
5. Your Content and the licence you grant us
You keep all ownership of Your Content. We do not claim any rights to it beyond what we need to run the Service. For content in the publish / API flow only, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free licence to store, host, copy, transmit, display and process Your Content solely to provide the feature you requested (for example, showing a shared document to your recipients or returning extraction results). This licence ends when you delete the content or stop sharing it, subject to short technical retention (for example backups) and to logs we must keep by law. We do not use Your Content to train AI models. We may use aggregated, de‑identified and anonymised data that cannot reasonably identify you or your recipients to operate, secure and improve the Service.
6. Sharing, analytics and viewer data
When you create a Doc Link or Space you may enable features that collect information about viewers (such as the email they enter, approximate location, and page‑by‑page viewing activity). If you enable them, you are the data controller for that information, doc.page acts as your processor, and you are responsible for informing viewers and having a lawful basis. See our Privacy Notice.
7. Electronic signatures
If you use our signing tools, you agree to do business electronically. You are responsible for the content of any document you send for signature and for determining whether an electronic signature is valid, enforceable and has legal effect for your use case and jurisdiction. doc.page is not a party to any document signed through the Service and makes no representation that a given electronic record is legally valid or enforceable. Some documents (for example certain consumer, family‑law or testamentary documents) may have special legal requirements our tools do not meet.
8. Plans, payment and renewals
Some features are offered as paid subscriptions. Prices and what each plan includes are shown at checkout. Payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe); by subscribing you authorise us and Stripe to charge your payment method the applicable fees, including any recurring fees, until you cancel.
- Auto‑renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time from your account billing settings or via the Stripe portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period.
- Price changes. We may change prices for future renewal periods; we will give you reasonable notice before a change takes effect.
- Taxes. Prices may be shown exclusive of taxes; you are responsible for any applicable VAT, sales or similar taxes, unless we are required to collect them.
- Refunds. Except where required by mandatory consumer law (including any statutory right of withdrawal), fees are non‑refundable.
9. API, MCP and software
We grant you a non‑exclusive, non‑transferable, revocable right to use the Service and any software we make available, only as intended and subject to your plan's limits. You must not resell, rent, sublicense or otherwise make the Service available to third parties beyond what your plan allows; reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code; or access the Service other than through the interfaces and API we provide. All rights, title and interest in the Service, our software and our trademarks remain with us or our licensors; these Terms grant you no rights in them beyond the limited licence above.
10. Feedback
If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback about the Service, you grant us a royalty‑free, perpetual, worldwide licence to use them without restriction or obligation to you.
11. Availability and warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error‑free, or that extraction, OCR or AI outputs will be accurate or complete. You are responsible for keeping your own copies and backups of Your Content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, doc.page will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim, or €50. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law.
13. Indemnification
You will indemnify and hold doc.page harmless from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent caused by us.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or where required by law, and may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice. On termination, shared documents and their associated data may be deleted; you should retrieve anything you need beforehand. Sections that by their nature should survive (including 5, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15 and 16) survive termination.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material we will take reasonable steps to notify you. Changes take effect when posted (or on the date we indicate), and your continued use of the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the place where the operator of doc.page is established, without affecting any mandatory protections you enjoy as a consumer under the law of your country of residence. Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at legal@doc.page so we can try to resolve the matter. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
